Abstract

The association among different techniques and tools in paleoenvironmental studies, allows higher capability of interpretation of obtained data. In view of that, this research project intends to develop an interdisciplinary reconstruction study of the holocenic environment, in high resolution, in the northern coast region of the Espírito Santo state, Brazil, related to the vegetation dynamics with climatic inferences, and to verify possible evidences about the relative sea-level fluctuations. In order to reach these objectives, it will be employed biological proxies, as pollen grains, sponges spicules and diatoms frustules, in conjunction with isotopic (C and N), sedimentary and mineralogical studies in lake sediments and soils under different vegetation covers.
