Abstract

The main purpose of this research project is to do a large data survey about the Programa de Fomento à Produção e Teledifusão do Documentário Brasileiro, the DOCTV. A lot of data about the program will be collected and analyzed, among them: technical token, themes analyze, engaged TVs, the way the enterprise is dealt in each state, the impact caused to the public TV network planning, among others. The research project is inserted within the activities currently developed by CEPECIDOC, Centro de Pesquisas do Cinema Documentário do Instituto de Artes/UNICAMP. The main source of program financing is the agreement between the Culture Ministry through the Audiovisual Departament and the Fundação Padre Anchieta. Besides, every production also receives part of the financing from the participating public TVs. The other hand composition of the co-production contract by the public TVs in each state brings many times the establishment of local partnership with the public administration (State Culture Departaments) or particular enterprise which extends the institutional support base to DOCTV in the state.The DOCTV is inserted in the Audiovisual Departament´s policy to the integration between the independent production and the public televisions. From unprecedented partnerships, the Audiovisual Department of Culture Ministry introduced regional poles of production and teledifusion, which envolves the TV Cultura of São Paulo state, the Associação Brasileira de TVs Públicas, Educativas e Culturais (ABEPEC) and the Associação Brasileira de Documentaristas (ABD), opening new markets and forming new movie makers. It is not a recurrent enterprise in the brazilian audiovisual scene, in which the State participation is prominent in the support to the documentary production in Brazil. The study objective is to set new research material available to future works in the audiovisual area, both through data survey and acquisition of copies of the documentaries to the UNICAMP collection.
