Abstract

The goal of this research is to investigate the process of introduction of the housing nucleus constituted by the Companhia Melhoramentos de Sao Paulo that gave beginning to the formation of the municipality of Caieiras, understanding his architectural original solutions, evolution and growth up to the company's organizational changes that led this model to the decline and demolition. We intend to examine the transformations of the nucleus since 1877 with the construction of kilns for manufacture of lime until to 2008, its consequences and measures to preserve the remaining buildings.Considered important collaborator to understanding of the development of the country during the period of industrialization, the housing nucleus influenced aspects of urban sprawl the city - which was driven by the decay of the type of attachment of officials within the nucleus - but the social behavior of this community. The references dealing specifically with core stress, in most cases, the social benefits obtained by the residents who benefited from housing offered by the company, praising the character of paternalistic management company. We intend to explore other aspects of the history of this nucleus, investigating you do not punish the reasons that took the administration of the enterprise to form the nucleuses offering to an official a quality infrastructure that was wrapping the preoccupation with his physical, emotional, economical and social well-being, like also the analysis of the trajectory of these villages. With the demolition of his buildings and exit of the families that in them were living, it was enlarged the urbane expansion out of the nucleuses.
