Abstract

The thyroid hormones have a recognized and potent lipolytic effect in White Adipose Tissue (WAT), however little is known about the molecular mechanisms involved in these actions. It is known that the main effectors of the lipolytic action in this tissue are hormone sensitive lipase (HSL) and specific lipase of triglycerides of adipocytes (ATGL), which hydrolyzed the triglycerides into fatty acids and glycerol. Other components involved in the lipolytic activity are the beta adrenergic receptors, which to recognize their ligands, increase the intracellular content of cAMP, with subsequent increased activity of PKA, and perilipinas, proteins involving the adipocytes, forming a protective barrier against HSL and ATGL action, so that must be hydrolyzed to the LHS and ATGL may exercise its lipolytic effect. It is known that thyroid hormones increase the expression of beta adrenergic receptors in various tissues, may exert part of its lipolytic effect through this mechanism. Regarding the action of HT on the LHS, jobs are scarce and inconclusive, even less is known about its effect on ATGL and peripilina. Considering the importance of fat in energy homeostasis and as a source of cytokines, many of which involved the installation of insulin resistance, and that the shares of HT lipolitic have been little explored, we investigate in HT rats that interfere with the expression the LHS, ATGL, Perilipinas as well as beta adrenergic receptors in white adipose tissue, which could enlarge the field of knowledge about their lipolytic effects.
