Abstract

Machine Translation (MT) is a major subfield of Natural Language Processing (NLP). Its goal is, from a text written in natural language, to generate an equivalent text in another natural language by means of computer systems. The project presented here aims to investigate, to implement and to evaluate some of the techniques considered most promising in the area of MT - syntax-based - for the language pair English and Brazilian Portuguese. Thus, we intend to advance the state-of-the-art machine translation involving Brazilian Portuguese.
