Abstract

In the search for new ways to make journalism, some publications, especially magazines, assume an alternative perspective in relation to the conventional divulgation of mass media. Longer texts, poems, portfolios, all them can appear in the magazine Piauí. Pre-released and the Festa Literária de Paraty, on August, 2006, Piauí brings, even indirectly, a reflection about the relations and tensions between journalism and literature, as well as the choice of subjects. Free to choose, without giving attention to the focus of the conventional journalistic agenda, its posture gives space for the unexpected in terms of form and content. This research aims to tell history of the magazine, since its divulgation and the newsstands on October 2006 till April 2010; it aims to evaluate how it was conceived, with the purpose of comprehending its editorial perspective and what kind of journalism the magazine is presenting. The most important goal of the research is to analyze the reporting, putting emphasis on its literary recourses, verifying its cultural dimension and understanding how the narrative structure enriches the reading, making it more interesting and pleasant.
