Abstract

Family Health Program (ESF) is considered a useful instrument for mental health care because it is composed of territorial and community services integrated to the health network system that helps social inclusion actions for psychic suffering people. ESF has become the major and best connection between communities and health system. It has been indispensable to question about the kind and quality of sheltering offered by these health system services. The study aims to investigate ESF actions by interviewing the professionals that work in these services in five districts of São Paulo state. Objective: To analyze, according to Family Health Strategy teams, the sheltering procedures used by ESF towards psychic suffering people. Method: The inquiry will use data from a protocol about capability, sheltering and mental health actions at ESF from the research "Sheltering and resolvability conditions of children and adolescent mental health problems in the Family Health Program" (Reis,2009). The research field will be composed by four districts, three of them from metropolitan areas and the other from the countryside. In this study, transversal method was used because it allows visualizing the current sheltering capability of ESF and shows the current procedures used when psychic suffering people are taken care by ESF. And, considering this is a research taken place at different places, it will also be possible to make comparisons and analyses between them, resulting in a set of information capable of supporting knowledge and reality comprehension about ESF sheltering supplies to psychic suffering people.
