Abstract Galaxy clusters are the largest collapsed structures in the universe. Being also the most recent structures, they are still growing by accretion and by mergers with other clusters. The intra-cluster gas, observed in X-rays, often exhibits substructures and disturbances in the density or temperature maps, which are signatures of recent merging events. In this project, we aim to analyse the properties of cluster mergers by performing a series of hydrodynamical simulations. These simulations will allow us to reproduce morphological features of the remnant and thus recover the dynamical history of observed clusters, estimating quantitatively the collision parameters. | |
