Abstract

The environmental discourse has occupied a central place in the academic, political, economic, advertising, business and social scopes. For being a subject that is in the current agenda, the mass media began to integrate it into their agenda. Researchers point out that for ordinary citizens, in Brazil, television is the main source of information on environmental issues. Within an extensive set of topics on the environment, the Amazonia has some prominence in the media projections to be a subject that interests to the collectivity. The Globo Reporter program has existed for nearly forty years and is considered one of the leaders of the country audience. Thus, the purpose of this research is to analyze the programs on the Amazonia, aired in 2010, by the Globo Reporter. So it must be applied to content analysis and critical discourse analysis, in order to promote a discussion on main elements that compose the discourse of the program on the Amazonia, for it is based on this information that people can inform and position themselves in relation to it.
