Abstract

The natural resource intensive industries have moved from center to periphery in Brazil. This shift is related to the environmental impacts generated by this industry, because in small towns occur more benefits to these industries, and local institutional capacity is less in pollution control. In the 1970s began, the state of São Paulo, a process of industrial metropolitan region of Sao Paulo to the interior of the state, which has generated intense industrialization of the regions of Campinas, Ribeirão Preto, Sorocaba and São José dos fields. This research project aims to verify whether there has been a shift of industries intensive in natural resources for the Administrative Region of Ribeirao Preto, as well as the sustainability aspects of this process.
