Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify empirically the main conditioning factors of the Brazilian economic growth for the period 1963-2009. The models follow a neoclassical specification for the macroeconomic theory of economic growth. The econometric analysis uses time series methods and aims at finding long-run relationships by cointegration techniques and the behavior of the growth rate by error correction models. Thus it intends to provide elements to evaluate ex-ante the implications of incentive policies for the conditioning variables, allowing prospective analysis on the conduction of long-run economic growth policy in Brazil. There is still a relative shortage of consistent papers using the proposed time series modeling on economic growth analysis, and this study aims at contributing to this end.
