Abstract This project foresees the development and characterization of sensors and biosensors based on organic field-effect devices such as metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) capacitors and transistors. The materials to be used are the semiconducting polymer poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and nanostructured thin films assembled by layer-by-layer technique.Films including different polyelectrolytes as poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH), polyethyleneimine (PEI) and poly(vinyl sulfonate acid) PVS will be employed and characterized by means of spectroscopic techniques and morphological studies (using SEM and AFM) aiming the obtainment of the best structure for gate modification. The performance of the devices as sensors and biosensors in aqueous medium will be investigated using the LbL films of the same polyelectrolytes. The electrical chracterization (dc and ac) will be used to choose the best material combination as well as on the evaluation of device response acting as sensor unit. | |
