Abstract

The main activity of technician will give support to the research activities of scientific initiation, master degree and doctorate in the Laboratory of Extraction, Applied Thermodynamics and Equilibrium (EXTRAE) in the period of validity of the technical training. The technician will give support, mainly, the three projects of research, below listed, that are part of the Thematic Project "Phase Equilibrium and Separation Process of Fatty and Aqueous Food Solutions", approved by FAPESP (process nº 05/53095-2): 1. Soybean oil deacidification by liquid-liquid extraction, that aims at the inquiry of the deacidification of vegetal oil by liquid-liquid extration in a PRDC column; 2. Determination of equilibrium data for vegetal oil/ethanol/hexane systems, that aims at the inquiry of the use of organic solvent in the solubility increasing of the reagents involved in the biotransformation of vegetal oils for biodiesel and partial acylglycerol production; 3. Experimental measurements of physical properties of exotic vegetal oils, vegetal oil /solvent micellas and aqueous solutions of sugar and organic acid, that aim at the attainment of data about density and viscosity of these systems, essential in the projects of equipments for oilchemical and juice processing industries. In the first project, the technician will assist in the PRDC column operation for soybean oil deacidification by liquid-liquid extraction and in the rafinate and extract stream characterization. The free fatty acid percentage will be determined by potenciometric and colorimetric acid-base titration, the solvent concentration by evaporation in a vacuum oven, the water concentration by Karl Fisher titration and the triacylglycerols concentration by difference. In the second, the activities will be the determination of liquid-liquid equilibrium data for vegetal oil/ethanol/hexane systems, using the near infrared spectroscopy technique. In the third project, the technician will give support to the experimental measurements of viscosity and density of exotic vegetal oil, vegetal oil/solvent micellas and aqueous solutions of sugar and organic acids (AU)
