Abstract

The thermal degradation of Bt-3,6-ionene, 3,6-dodecylionene and 3,10-ionene will be studied by thermogravimetry in a nitrogen atmosphere. The TG/DTG curves of the three polymers are expected to exhibit distinct profiles, which are likely associated with their structural and functional differences. The E-values and TG/DTG curves will indicate the most thermally stable complex. Non-isothermal experiments will be performed in the temperature range of 25-800 ÚC at different heating rates (5, 10 and 20 ÚC min-1) for each sample. The purpose of the present work is to study the thermal degradation of polymerized bentonites, using the thermogravimetry (TG) technique.
