Abstract

Today, planning and land use have been discussed by many researchers, since the destruction of riparian vegetation areas or increasing the area of conflict between them may cause some losses in ecosystem dynamics and the quantity and quality of water It is necessary to preserve these areas in order to have a correct use of natural resources. Looking for contribute to an environmental management plan and making decisions about the watershed Ribeirão Santo Antônio located in São Manuel (SP) to promote improved future quality and quantity of water supply in the region, this paper aims spatialize and delineate areas of APP and conflicts through satellite imagery and Geographic Information System, in view of the important function of these tools in the generation of substantiated information in accordance with the Brazilian Forest Code and CONAMA. It is hoped to obtain data to assist in the maintenance and preservation of areas of APP around the study area, pointing out the irregularities and the viability of its adequacy in accordance with the environmental regulations in the country.
