Abstract

In several regions of the world, the recovery of degraded areas, reduction of production costs and the intensive use of the area throughout the year, are being made possible by the crop-livestock integration under no-tillage system, and the grain crops intercrop with forage have generated socio-economic and environmental positive results. The sheep industry has shown a considerable growth in recent years, however, the inclusion of this species in crop-livestock integration systems is small, requiring further studies. Thus the research aimed to evaluate in two years the effect of the corn crop intercroped with Marandu and Piatã grasses and two harvest height for silage (20 and 45 cm) in the performance of sheep grazing in these pastures and supplemented with silage to their treatment in crop-livestock integration, as well as, height, growth, availability, and morphological composition of forage, and the population density of basal and aerial tillers and diet composition of animals. Will be evaluated also chewing, the bite rate, weight gain, the quantitative in vivo and carcass aspects of lambs. (AU)
