Abstract This research has the purpose to enlarge the knowledge about the journalistic image discussion, investigating specifically the effects of light and shadow in the construction of sensibility on image texts, from photography analysis available on the Magnun Agency website, on In Motion section, with the series of Access to Life (2008), by eight photo journalists that interviewed 30 HIV positives in 9 countries around the world, 4 months before and after the beginning of the HIV treatment. The photo reports of Magnun Agency presents a well appropriated material for investigation, from other reasons, by the fact that they have a great esthetic and discursive qualities, which makes them result in important meaningful instruments. This project's author pretends to develop studies about journalistic photography, with the purpose to find out, from images surfaces analysis, other structures of deeper senses, with particular emphasis on the effects produced by light and shadow in elements that generate reader/spectator sensibility of photography. The project seeks to go deeper on studies of image text, rescuing its cultural, interdisciplinary and communicative nature, as something constructive and touching by emotions caused by the other's look.
