Abstract

This research's major purpose is to describe and analyze the trajectory of the sociological studies on cosmopolitanism, from Georg Simmel to Ulrich Beck. The first assumption suggests that this trajectory can be conceived by the passage of a "sociology of cosmopolitanism" to a sociological cosmopolitanism. The main hypothesis indicates that the cosmopolitanism trajectory inside sociology leads to trajectories of the cosmopolitanism, due to the plurality of theoretical approaches that characterize the studies on this subject. The strategy here defined, in order to determine the mediations between the specified studies, is based on an immanent analysis, which takes the internal aspects of each formulation as its systematic element.
