Abstract Oncidiinae is one of the largest and most important subtribes of Maxillarieae, comprising more than 1,000 species in about 70 genera. Representatives of this group can be found throughout the Americas, most frequently in tropical regions, with many representatives endemic to Brazil. In this study we will study the anatomy and histochemistry of 20 species of Oncidiinae to characterize the structure of floral glands and determine the tissues involved in secretion, as well as the chemical nature of floral resources offered to pollinators. The data obtained here for Oncidiinae species will be added to those already published for the subtribe to prepare a study on the evolution of floral structures that produce rewards offered to pollinators. For this study we will develop a phylogenetic hypothesis using characters obtained from the sequencing of psbA and matK regions of chloroplast DNA and ITS from nuclear DNA. Are also used sequences available in GenBank. The study of evolution of structures that produce rewards will be held from the program Mesquite. (AU) | |
