Abstract

Metal complexes have been studied in diagnostic and treatment of human diseases. The use of platinum(II) complexes such as cisplatin and carboplatin on anticancer therapy is one of the best examples of application of inorganic compounds in medicine. Other examples are the uses of silver and gold complexes as antimicrobial and antiarthritic agents, respectively. The aim of this project is to synthesize, characterize and evaluate the biological activities of new metal complexes of gold(I), platinum(II) and palladium(II) with sulfadiazine.
