Most water bodies in Brazil and at the world is contaminated with something, be it sewage, metals / carcinogenic chemicals or biodegradable detergents. Little is known about agents mentioned above and their impact on the morphology of fish and even less in the gill rakers. The gill rakers are vital to fish, because, together with the gills, are responsible for defending and protecting the body and selecting appropriate food for their survival. A simple change in one component of the traces could weaken the fish gills, causing him to death. This would cause a impact on the fishing industry and the people who have fish as the only source of protein. This concern has already reached a global landscape, this study plead with it to investigate the action of pollutants contained in water with detergent and pure water from an artesian well from UNESP - Rio Claro on a small species fish such as Astyanax altiparanae (Lambeth) . This water is chlorinated, as required by the model SABESP, and will be the control group, to be compared with those exposed to pollutants, above. Will be checked and histochemical changes of gill rakers ultramofológicas Astyanax altiparanae the two study groups, both the control and those exposed to pollutants.
