Abstract

The knowledge of the local changes of nutrients digestion may explain differences in performance, and digestive metabolism of nutrient in ruminants. Fistulas allow the access to the lumen of the digestive tract for collection of digesta and diffusion of nutrients that are indicators to monitor chemical aspects (hydrolysis and synthesis) and physical (flow) of digestion. Traditionally, the main method used to estimate the luminal flow consists in fistula of the "T" type with abomasal or duodenal sampling. The methods to measure the flow of nutrients within the digestive tract, until recently were limited to utilization of animals fistulated in omasum, abomasum or duodenum. Little researches were developed measuring the flow of digesta without the fistulation post-ruminal involving the fat metabolism. It because, the digestion process of lipids in ruminants can be considered one of the more complex and it is summarized by two main stages, lipolysis and biohydrogenation of unsaturated fatty acids. The second may suffer vacations depending of the site of collection. However, the ruminal kinetics of digestion process of lipids, summarized in these two processes, has been studied for several years. The biohydrogenation can be considered self-defense process of the rumen microorganisms that convert unsaturated fatty acids (C18:2 and C18:3) in saturated fatty acids, less toxic to the rumen microbial population. Moreover, this process reduces the intestinal flow of polyunsaturated fatty acids to the duodenum and contributes to the accumulation of CLA isomers, cis and trans, in products derived from ruminants. Some researchers have attempted appropriate alternatives to estimate the ruminal flow of fatty acids and proposed a sampling method reticular and omasal to estimate the flow of fatty acids of the ruminal digesta. In studies more recent has been evaluated a sampling method reticular in substitution to omasal sampling, considering that for the omasal digesta collection is necessary the use of more sophisticated equipment. This experiment will be conducted with objective of evaluate methods of collection reticular, omasal and abomasal for evaluation of ruminal hydrogenation and intestinal flow of fatty acids in dairy cows. It also will evaluate the effects of different sources of dietary fat on the ruminal hydrogenation and intestinal flow of fatty acids, rumen fermentation, intake and total apparent digestibility of dry matter and nutrients.
