Abstract

The object of this research project is the Brazilian television drama, more specifically the series produced by the Globo television broadcasting between the years 1982 and 1992. During that period 33 series were exhibited, what indicates the great effort of renovation that had happened and the relative importance of this audiovisual format in the evolution of the Brazilian television. The central goal of the research is to do a sociological analysis that aims to comprise some of the main aspects referring this production: the social and political general determinants, the functions that series play in the television, their recruitment logic and the hierarchies that in vigour in the television industry, their stylistics conventions and the reception process.
