Abstract

This project aims to analyze comparatively the texts published by Patrícia Galvão in the "A Mulher do Povo," of the newspaper pamphleteer O Homem do Povo in 1931 with his first novel Parque Industrial, in 1933, aiming to demonstrate how the voice of the narrator is expressed in its journalistic organization and how her narrative style articulates her ideologic positions with contemporary social issues through the conscience expressed by the characters of Galvão's novels. Thus, the journalistic and novelistic texts will be glimpsed from their similar themes of the cultural situation of the period and of the literary canon of the thirties, putting in a debate the nuances of gender and other controversial questions of the so-called proletarian novel. The comparative analysis of two distinct modes of production is to elucidate a broad perspective to understand the evolution style of Patricia Galvao in its initial moment of operation working with Oswald de Andrade, and thus try to define a common aesthetic style that resembles other works of the period, such as Cacau, by Jorge Amado. Therefore, emphasizing the importance of revitalization of authors and works of lesser prominence of Brazilian literature, the proposed project will seek to adopt an analytical perspective committed to place their works during the transformation of romanesque art since the advent of the modernist movement, considering, especially, the adoption of a critical method focused on the diversity of the national literary system and the reflexes that one literary gender has on the other.
