Abstract

The objective of this study will analyze the protective effect of a single session of downhill running on muscle damage markers induced induced during and after long duration running (without gradient) and its respective effects on running economy (RE) and muscle torque. Thirty males aged 18 to 30 years will participate of the study. Subjects will perform progressive test to exhaustion to determine lactate threshold (LT) and maximal oxygen uptake on treadmill. Index of fatigue (maximal isometric force and electromyographic activity), of the muscle damage markers (CK) and RE will be determined before and after a single long duration running session (2 h at LT). Subsequently, a single downhill running session will be performed to induce muscle damage. Fourteen days after downhill running session, muscle damage markers and RE will be determined before and after the long duration running session.
