Abstract

This project proposes a research on restorative justice, which is an alternative form of conflict resolution. It has been gaining ground in the country and has been used more specifically in the treatment of illegal acts committed by adolescents. For this study we selected three regions of São Paulo where restorative justice programs are underway: Sao Caetano do Sul, Heliopolis (capital) and Guarulhos. The aim is to analyze how was the installation process of these programs and how (or the reasons why) they are functioning, focusing on the care provided to adolescents and their family members through the presence of restorative circles. It is also possible to ascertain the perceptions from both legal professionals who support this model of justice and the public in general.
