Abstract

Although HEMA monomer has been used in the composition of most bonding agents, it is considered the main component of adhesives involved in the degradation of resin-dentin bonding. The objective of this research project is to evaluate adhesive systems that do not contain HEMA, using the dentin permeability and bond strength methodology. The evaluation times will be 24 hours and one year, with the specimens stored in artificial saliva. Four adhesive systems will be selected. As a control group, it will be tested a traditional adhesive that contains HEMA. Two adhesives do not contain HEMA and another does not have HEMA in the primer solution. In the phase of dentin permeability analysis, it will be studied the ability of dentin sealing promoted by adhesive system and the micropermeability at the bonding area, using confocal scanning laser microscopy. To evaluate de bond strength, it will be used the microtensile bond strength test. Additionally, the fracture pattern investigation of the tested specimens will be performed with electron scanning microscopy.
