Abstract

The search for renewable alternative energies has become necessary and it is currently the subject of many research groups in the world. This is why the research in solar cells field, among other sources of renewable alternative energies, has gained an important focus in recent years. Therefore, understanding the behavior and the mechanisms of such devices is of fundamental importance for the improvement and future marketing of these products. In this context, this project aims to study the changes in electrochemical, physical and photochemical properties of both, ITO/P3HT:PCBM electrodes and the photovoltaic devices, when they are subjected to different annealing conditions. The impedance spectroscopy will be used as the main characterization technique, since this technique is very powerful in elucidating the mechanisms of such devices, such as generation of photoelectrons, recombination and charge separation, as well as techniques like scanning electron and atomic force microscopies and X-ray diffraction. Therewith, we aim to have a new vision of these mechanisms as a function of different annealing conditions of the active layer, as well as to better understand the relationship of the photocurrent and the photopotential with the active layer morphology.
