Evaluation of primary stability of two types of dental implants, usind tridimensional analysis of images

Abstract

One of the main factors in the success of osseointegrated implants is the appropriate primary stability of the implant in different bone densities. This study aim so aims to evaluate initial stability of two different types of self-tapping implants, in an in vitro bone model, controlling bone variability, in vitro, using tomographic analysis. For that, 20 implants will be used (Titaniumfix, São José dos Campos - SP) in 2 different models: Group 1 - e-fix (3,75mmn wide and 10mm length); Group 2 - e-fix silver (3,75mmn wide and 10mm length). All implants will be inserted, according to the manufacturer's instructions, in 20 standardized bone cylinders (one per cylinder), obtained from pigs, with high (Group A -10 cylinders) and low (Group B-10 cylinders) bone density. Previously to implant insertion, computerized tomography of each cylinder will be taken, and tridimensional bone density will be calculated. After implant insertion, new tomography will be taken, and tridimensional reconstruction of bone cylinder + implant images will be performed. After that, tridimensional bone density contiguous and distant to the implant will be calculated and compared to the values previous to implant insertion. The results of each implant group will be compared, evaluating if there are statistical differences (ANOVA or Kruskal Wallys test, p<0.05) in tridimensional bone densities between them.(AU)
