Abstract

The noise in schools can create stress and compromise the teaching-learning process once the students have a restriction in audibility and understanding of the teachers voice. The objective of this research is to identify the perception of university students about the noise in the classroom and its implications for the teaching-learning process and health. Ten teachers will be identified in the health area, who complained through a questionnaire of noise in class. Each teacher will indicate a noisy classroom and it will be drawn ten students to respond to an instrument of presence, type and source of noise, noise assessment, its implications for the classroom and student behavior and strategies to minimize this problem. The data will be reported as mean, standard deviation, median, minimum and maximum for quantitative values and absolute and relative frequencies for qualitative values. Then the answers will be compared within and between courses in gender, age, marital status, seating place occupied in the classroom using the Student t test to compare the average of two groups; variance analysis to compare the average of three or more groups, and chi-square or Fisher's exact test to compare proportions. The significance level is 5%. The open questions will be treated by qualitative content analysis. This research will help the students to analyze the noise of the university and its consequences, as well as join efforts to promote changes to generate a healthier environment for studying. (AU)
