Abstract

The Sepetiba Bay is a training estuarine considered of special ecological interest in the Constitution of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Its rich biodiversity and great ocean conditions contribute significantly to ensure maintenance of traditional livelihoods of fishing, which depend critically on funds from this ecosystem. However, to be located in a strategic region of significant economic interest, the Bay of Sepetiba, becomes a factor of attractiveness for the deployment of industrial and port. Thus, the multiple possibilities of use of its waters, they become subject to dispute by various actors, constituting an area of intense social and environmental conflicts. In this sense, the research project in question are intended to investigate possible changes in the activity of fishing Stone Guaratiba, caused by the exclusion zone of the fishing port of Siderurgica do Atlantico-(ThyrssenKrupp CSA) in Sepetiba Bay.
