Abstract

Given the unequal access to higher education in Brazil, we discuss the experience of social movements acting in Non-Formal Education and the implications of their actions in the political sphere for the democratic construction and its deepening in public space. In this sense, we will perform a desk research followed by interviews on a case study of the social movement known as Cursinho Alternativo Herbert de Souza, located in Vila União, in Campinas (SP) in order to examine the dynamics of organization and implementation of strategies in the political struggle for access to higher education in Brazil. We seek to contribute to the field of Sociology, to discuss experiences and reflecting the consequences of these projects for democratic deepening and questioning of social inequalities. (AU)
