Abstract

The project aims the characterization of transcription factors involved with the development of the corona, a typical floral organ of the Passifloraceae. This structure is absent in current plant models for the molecular biology of reproduction. In Passifloraceae the corona is involved with plant-polinator interactions. Expressed sequence tags generated by the PASSIOMA project will be used to produce macro-arrays F. Once corona-specific sequences are identified, the 5´-cis regulatory region of these sequences will be obtained. In the future, these sequences could be useful to generate reporter gene constructs aiming corona-directed gene expression.
