Abstract

The overall objective of the study is to evaluate the effect of subclinical mastitis on the composition and hygienic quality of milk of dairy cattle tank. Specifically, the objective is to evaluate the effect of somatic cell count (SCC) of dairy cattle tank on the concentrations of fat, protein, lactose, casein, total solids and dry extract and the total bacterial count (CBT), counting of psychrotrophic and coliform counts. To that end, samples will be collected milk tank of 100 dairy farms in the state of São Paulo, selected based on somatic cell count (SCC) and in proximity to the laboratory. These properties are classified into three groups according to the average SCC for the last 3 months: low (<250,000 cells / ml), medium (> 250,000 and <750,000 cells / mL) and high SCC (> 750,000 cells / mL) . The bulk tank milk samples will be collected fortnightly, for a period of three months, totaling 600 samples and subjected to composition analysis, CBT, psychrotrophic count and coliform count. The results of microbiological tests (CBT, CP and CC) will be converted to logarithmic scale and will be subjected to analysis of variance. The comparison between the averages will be performed by the Tukey test. Will be used a significance level of 5% for all tests. (AU)
