Abstract

This study deals with the commercial and cultural path (way) of Syrian and Lebanese immigrants and their descendants. The analyzed areas are 25 de Março Street and its Adjacencies and the district of Brás, Paraíso and Ipiranga. The analysis and dimension of the commercial and cultural occupation processes involve a research about general and Arab immigration, the historic formation of these regions, as well as the comprehension of cultural identity and space concepts. It also uses a survey of all commercial and cultural establishments in the specific perimeter of Brás and 25 de Março region and a inventory of establishments related to Syrian and Lebanese immigration in Paraíso and Ipiranga districts. This work will also use Oral History interviews with representatives from Arabic business and institutions located in this region. Obtained data study will be based in the transitoriness of Syrian and Lebanese features and in their space mobility through these areas from the beginning of Arab immigration times until nowadays.
