Analysis of flow and diffusion capability of MTA in different solutions with or without ultrasound activation

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the flow of the MTA handled with distilled water or with an experimental liquid composed of distilled water (80%) and Propylene glycol (20%). It will also measure the pH of simulated external root reabsorption in bovine teeth after the filling with these materials with and without ultrasonic agitation. Both MTA with distilled water and experimental liquid will be manipulated in an amalgamator. Iso 6876/2001 specifications will be used for the flow test. For the dentin infiltration test, it will be used 46 bovine teeth with biomechanical instrumentation and simulated external reabsorption. 40 teeth will be used in this experience and will be divided into 4 groups (n=10): Group 1 - Mta with distilled water without ultrasound agitation; Group 2 - Mta with distilled water and propylene glycol without ultrasound agitation; Group 3 - MTA with distilled water and ultrasound agitation; Group 4 - MTA with distilled water and propylene glycol with ultrasound agitation. 6 teeth will be used like positive and negative controls. The teeth will be immersed in ultrapure water and after 15, 30, and 60 days, will be measured the water and external surface pH. The results will be tested with D´Agostino and Pearson´s normality test, and later, the more appropriate test for each analysis will be made, with a significance level of 5%.(AU)
