Abstract

This research project aims to investigate the prosody's discursive function, which organizes the uses of comma. With this investigation, it is expected to defend that the commas, considering their constitutive prosodic organization, are motivated by a discursive function. For that, will be analyzed conventional and unconventional commas, used in simple or double schema. The research will assume the perspective about punctuation proposed by Chacon (1998). This perspective defends the multidimensional rhythm of writing defined by the punctuation marks. For the analysis, the research will adopt as theoretical background, the heterogeneous way of constitution of writing (CORRÊA, 20004) and the studies of enunciation developed by Bakhtin (1992) and Authier-Revuz (1990; 2004). As corpus the research will have argumentative texts of different genres produced by eighteenth graders of a public school in São José do Rio Preto. These texts belong the database named "Banco de Dados de Produções Escritas do Ensino Fundamental", available at UNESP. (AU)
