Effects of aerobic exercise in cardiometabolic dysfunctions induced by high fructose intake since weaning in rats

Abstract

The increased consumption of processed products containing large amounts of fructose in the diet and its association with higher rates of physical inactivity have increased the concern for health agencies in relation to the increased prevalence of chronic diseases. The association of various risk factors in the child development period may have an influence on the development of metabolic syndrome in adulthood. In this sense, the practice of physical activities for children can be a way of reducing this risk and improve the quality of life. Thus, the aim of this study will be to evaluate whether the burden of fructose started from weaning (21 days) in male rats induces cardiometabolic dysfunctions, associated with changes in cardiovascular autonomic modulation and oxidative stress parameters, as well as investigate the aerobic physical training applied during the same period has a protective effect on these disorders. Will be used 24 male Wistar rats divided into 3 groups (n = 8 each group), as follows: fructose-trained (FT), fructose sedentary (FS) and sedentary control (SC). The trained group will be submitted to a physical training program on a treadmill (1 hour /day, 5 days / week, 8 weeks, 40-60% of maximum speed stress test), and the end of the protocol will be performed a glucose measure, the glucose tolerance test and the direct recording of blood pressure and heart rate for later analysis of cardiovascular autonomic modulation. Oxidative stress is evaluated in the cardiac tissue and blood by reason redox ratio (oxidized glutathione (GSH) / reduced glutathione (GSSG)), the membrane lipid peroxidation (chemiluminescence technique), the damage to proteins (technique of carbonyl), by measure of total antioxidant capacity.
