Abstract

Geological materials (rocks, sediment, and soil) have natural concentrations of various chemical elements, such as volcanoes that spew large amounts of metals in eruption. This project is based on studying the relationship between the level of concentration of chemical elements in geological materials of the State of São Paulo and its impact on human health, and the assessment of possible toxicity to humans. By creating a public database for easy reproducibility, may be identified differences among each place, anomalies, and patterns of environmental quality natural rocks, sediments, and soil. The study is based on a toxicological review of chemicals and cases reported in the State of Sao Paulo. As the main result of the project, we can diagnose the toxicity present in rocks, sediments, and soils from São Paulo to support important public decisions about the welfare of the population. (AU)
