Abstract

The research proposal entitled "Structural and Morphological characterization of Conjugated Polymer Films for Application on High Performance Photo-voltaic Devices" has two main branches, which focus on the comprehension of correlated phenomena. The first branch is closely related to the investigation and understanding of the morphology, structural conformation and molecular dynamics of new polymer materials, synthesized for application on high performance photo-voltaic devices. For this purpose, Wide Angle X-Ray Diffraction (WAXD), Solid-State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) e Thermal Analysis techniques, such as, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, shall be used as main methods. The second branch focus on the correlation between the results obtained in the first part, with the optoelectronic properties of the polymer films used as activity layer in organic photo-voltaic cells. This second branch involve, as the main goals, the fabrication and electrical characterization of organic devices as a function of temperature. For that, Impedance Spectroscopy (dielectric relaxation), Current-Voltage measurements, charge carrier mobility measurement, such as, Time of Flight (TOF) and Current Extraction by Linear Increasing Voltage (Photo-CELIV) are the main techniques to be used. Thus, this project combines fundamental studies on molecular and structural properties, such as molecular properties and conformation, with the technological performance organic devices. (AU)
