Abstract

Because of environmental and technological problems involving the exploitation of oil fields with large releases of CO2 and its interference with the balance of ecosystems, new technologies capable of absorbing, modify or reduce their emission is of vital importance to the protection and preservation of planet, being this in its gaseous form or dissolved in water.In order to help minimize this problem, this project aims to construct, characterize, and apply titanium electrodes with nanotubes of titanium oxide (TiO2), TiO2 modified with platinum nanoparticles (TiO2/PT) functioning as n-type semiconductor and electrodes copper covered with nanoparticles of copper oxide (Cu/CuO)functioning as p-type semiconductor, in reducing photoeletrocatalytic CO2 dissolved in water. Since the specific objective, to test the influence of these materials under irradiation UV and visible and polarization of the electrode in the generation of conversion products the same in sub-products such as methane, methanol and other hydrocarbons.
