Abstract

The current educational policy indicates the inclusion of all children in regular schools, respecting their needs and peculiarities, however these points are not always provided. Difficulties of access the language, the deaf are priced out of the processes of teaching and learning. It is extremely important to develop pedagogical practices attentive to the needs of this population, initiatives that facilitate the acquisition and use of the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) at school. Share this direction became mandatory with the publication of the Federal Decree 5.626/05. This study is hinged to a program of education, Inclusive Bilingual Program, which performs actions for monitoring and research linked to a program of inclusion of deaf students at a school in São Carlos/SP. The focus is the development of bilingual education for deaf students and the insertion of Libras to school space by implementing appropriate teaching methodologies and practices. The objective of this work is to develop a system of careful evaluation, considering the bilingual features for monitoring and analyzing the academic development of students entered into the program based on the development in Libras and Portuguese. Three studies aiming to identify the school space with singularities of bilingual education will be realized; create the evaluation system and do a pilot study in another school entered these program. Pretend to reflect on what was accomplished by opening the prospect of reviewing practices, improve them or modify them according to observed effects on students. (AU)
