Abstract

For a contemporary understanding of the dynamics of the Shrine of Aparecida / SP - Brazil, the object of this research project is the religious phenomenon that motivates the trip to the Shrine. For this analysis, given the empirical evidence that the travel intentions varied as the number of visitors, we intend to approach two aspects: the devotional and trade, considering a constitutive part of this religious phenomenon. Thus, on one hand will be explored the relation between the devote and the saint on the other is the appropriation of existing objects in that environment, through their various forms of consumption. The proposal is an approach that has references to both equitable aspects, that is, non-hierarchical practices and motivations of the trip for an understanding of this religious phenomenon. (AU)
