Abstract

The majority of rural properties in Brazil have not legal reserve, because there are cultural and economic barriers that make the majority of farmers no longer comply with the legislation. The Legal Reserve has an important role in the conservation of the biodiversity and the maintenance of ecological balance, besides to provide economic possessions through of sustainable management. Thus, it is important to know the characteristics of ecological groups for understanding the behavior of native tree species with economic potential to adopt a model of restoration of these areas that guarantee an alternative of source of income to the small farmers. Up against this situation, the present paper has the objective to assess the potential timber of three native tree species - Canafístula, Pau-Marfim and Jatobá - in test of ecological groups, aiming the plantation of these species in areas of Legal Reserve of small rural properties. The field work will be performed in a restored area that was established in 1989, located in Promissão - SP, belonging to the company AES Tietê. To the assessment of the species, it will be collected the height data and dbh and it will be performed the analyses of the form of the trunk. The assessment of the timber quality will be performed from the achievement of the mechanical and physical properties of the timber, where it will be collected samples of the trunk of three individuals of each species. Moreover, it will be performed literature review and prices research to analyze the economic viability of the respective timbers.(AU)
