Abstract

The Experimental Autoimmune Neuritis (EAE) is considered the experimental model of Guillain-Barre syndrome. The EAN is a disease of autoimmune character characterized by the invasion of mononuclear cells in the endoneurial space. Autoreactive T cells are activated and respond to peripheral myelin components. This response is mediated mainly by Th1 lymphocytes and/or TH17. Nevertheless, it is unclear how T cells with helper functions would have the capacity to begin the inflammatory process. Our preliminary data indicate that encephalitogenic and neuritogenic T cells express unusual quantities, for T CD4+ cells, of molecules with cytotoxic action. Therefore, in this project is our goal to study the expression and action of cytotoxic molecules during the clinical evolution of EAN.(AU)
