Abstract

Even though they have common goals, there are two projects under independent development in the University of Sao Paulo at Sao Carlos: one of them is the e-NOE, by the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science and the other one is the Floodrisk, by the Engineering School of Sao Carlos. Both are computer systems that concentrate their efforts in reducing damage caused by urban floods. The e-NOE has shown good results in collecting hydrological data, but it does not have an efficient interface to distribute the data it collects. The Floodrisk, on the other hand, may provide the e-NOE with this interface, with just some changes on its code. At the same time, the Floodrisk needs a better source of data than the one it has now, wich is static - this is something the e-NOE may provide. This project purposes the integration of these two projects using worldwide tested methods to collect, keep and distribute geospatial data, standarized by the Open Geospatial Consortium and developed by the german enterprise named 52north. The result would be a web system capable of distibuting, in a robust way, data that could be used to reduce the damage caused by urban floods. (AU)
