Abstract

Initially conceived as an antitumoral compound, the P-MAPA (polymeric anhydride of magnesium and proteic ammonium phospholinoleate) presented immunomodulatory potential in several studies, concerning cytokines secretion, NFºB expression and nitric oxide production by macrophages. However, it's action on elements from innate immunity, such as the complement system and Toll like receptors are still unknown, although there are evidences that P-MAPA may act upon those receptors. Thereby, the present study proposes evaluate the possible modulatory role of P-MAPA upon the complement system and Toll like receptors, using an inflammation model induced by E. coli LPS, in human whole blood in vitro.
