Abstract

The good results obtained in recent publications show the practical importance of techniques for the design of output feedback controllers, particularly one of these techniques called V-K iteration. This research proposal aims to perform a comparative assessment of the performance of different tools for the solution (known as Linear Matrix Inequality solvers) applied to this technique. Since the previously mentioned good results were obtained using the solver mincx, which requires a commercial license of usage, in this research the objective is the evaluation of two other solvers (namely, the SeDuMi and SDPT3 solvers), both having free licenses of usage and open source code. It is expected that in case the performance of these two open code solvers is comparable to the one provided by the mincx solver, it will be possible to significantly advance this line of research, given the possibility to adequate the code of the solver to the specific application intended (i.e., damping control of electromechanical oscillations in power systems). The performance of the chosen solvers will be measured in terms of numerical precision and processing time.(AU)
