Abstract

After the end of the Cold War settled a rearrangement of the world economy, with the emergence of economic blocs, as a way to perform the insertion of the safest countries in the globalized world, as was the case of the consolidation of Mercosur. Thus, to promote infrastructure integration has become a fundamental strategy for the consolidation of territorial integration within the blocks. In this sense, in the beginning of the century, was prepared the Plan of Action for the Integration of Regional Infrastructure in South America (IIRSA), which represents an evolution in an attempt to consolidate the integration between the various countries of South America and, therefore, expand trades within Mercosur. So when making investments in transportation infrastructure it possesses the territory of one of the "general conditions of production" critical to the reproduction of capital and the generation of "internal multiplier effect", once these investments are not restricted to border areas, encourages the consolidation of spatial interactions in the context of Mercosur and other extraregional markets.
