Abstract

The search for natural compounds active has increased significantly in recent years, some of these compounds are able to eliminate mycobacteria. The use of plants by man in the cure of many diseases is a millenary practice and it's still used nowadays. The plants are considered true complex biochemical laboratories that, among several compounds, synthesize the natural active principle. The present project aims to assess the activity of essential oils against Mycobacterium avium, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and Mycobacterium kansasii. To evaluate the antimycobacterial activity the broth microdilution method (REMA) will be used for determining the MIC. Therefore, this project aims to collaborate with information that enables future studies for developing new therapeutic agents against infections caused by pathogenic mycobacteria and potentially pathogenic.(AU)
